German rail operator Deutsche Bahn uses UBIMET weather data
Winter service planning for over 5,400 railway stations and for long-distance rail traffic – to achieve this, Deutsche Bahn works with the UBIMET Rail Weather Cockpit.
Deutsche Bahn utilizes the weather service provided by UBIMET for planning its winter services. With extremely precise weather forecasts and the Rail Weather Cockpit, the Austrian company won an international bid by the Deutsche Bahn. Starting with the 2016/17 season, the implementation of winter services at more than 5,400 railway stations throughout the Federal Republic of Germany will be planned with the Rail Weather Cockpit. This ensures that access roads, footpaths at the railway stations and the train tracks can be kept free of snow and ice. The Deutsche Bahn has been a UBIMET customer since 2007. The company uses weather information and tools for the general planning of long-distance traffic in regard to extreme weather, combines weather data with other information for accounting purposes and plans passenger loads.
