Düsseldorf Airport uses weather service UBIMET to implement the Aviation Weather Cockpit for personnel and resource planning and efficient ground handling

UBIMET GAINS DÜSSELDORF AIRPORT AS A NEW CUSTOMER

Düsseldorf Airport and the global weather service UBIMET have recently signed an agreement to implement the Aviation Weather Cockpit for superior personnel and resource planning and efficient ground handling.

Precise weather forecasts are essential for seamless airport operations. The earlier we know about weather events such as snow or storms for instance, the sooner we can react. The Weather Cockpit’s modern technology and accuracy have convinced us. The comprehensive weather information supports us on site to enable targeted resource planning“, emphasizes Thomas Schnalke, spokesman of the airport management. “We are delighted that Düsseldorf Airport has decided on our Weather Cockpit after a one-month trial period. Following Fraport now Germany’s third largest hub is also now banking on our solution for more safety and efficiency in ground handling,“ says Michael Fassnauer, CEO UBIMET.

The Weather Cockpit is a professional weather application that supports airports in enhancing safety and efficiency in ground handling. With the Weather Cockpit hubs receive relevant weather information to optimize staff and resource planning to enable a seamless operation and guarantee their staff’s safety. At the same time the satisfaction of passengers and airlines is increased.

As hub with more than 23 million passengers in 2016 Düsseldorf Airport is the biggest airport in North Rhine-Westphalia. From here about 70 airlines fly to more than 200 destinations worldwide. In one of Europe’s economically strongest regions with a catchment area of 18 million inhabitants within 100 km, Düsseldorf Airport plays a substantial role in fulfilling the mobility requirements of citizens in North Rhine Westphalia and South East Netherlands.
